Systemdek II

by James Leahy

Does anyone out there remember Systemdek? Yes, that's right they were a Scottish built turntable which was very popular in the 1980s. It is a truly beautiful collectors piece and a fine sounding turntable to match. This particular unit was picked up for a song at an auction house and has been brought to us for a full restoration.

A 6mm rubber turntable mat has also been added for maximum vibration dampening.

Add the formidable Rega RB301 to your deck and it will turn your old tonearm into a modern classic.

Ortofon OM10 cartridge was installed for amazing performance at a very competitive price point.

Very simple to use and a classic that looks great in any system.

The original tonearm that was fitted was a Profile II.

It has now been fully upgraded to a Rega RB301...!!!

What a difference in performance we gained from this simple modification.

As can be seen from the above picture, two Rega 2mm spacers had to be used to obtain the correct VTA.

A new drive belt was installed for correct idler tension and speed continuity.

The old Profile II tonearm.

Well used and in desperate need of an upgrade to bring it up to modern standards.

The original removable headshell is a major performance brickwall that introduces flex.

With all the new Rega tonearms there is no such problem.
